2003 Pokemon EX Sandstorm Set – History

All of the Third Generation sets have “EX” in their name; this comes from the Pokémon EX present in these sets.

EX Sandstorm, released on September 18, 2003, is the 18th set of cards in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Plus, it is the 2nd set released by Pokémon USA Inc. Its symbol is a pair of fossils: the Claw Fossil and the Root Fossil from the video games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. It has a set of 100 cards.

There were nine cards in each booster pack. Included in the pack, were one reverse holographic card, one rare card, two uncommon, and five common cards. If there was an EX card in the pack, it generally replaced one of the common cards. The reverse holo and rare cards were, in most cases, the last two cards in the pack.

The four EX Sandstorm pack wrappers each highlight a different Pokémon. The pokemon represented are Dusclops, Seviper, Shiftry, and Zangoose.

2003 Pokemon EX Sandstorm Set – Interest and Popularity

EX Sandstorm is the name given to the second main expansion of the EX Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

This set brings back the Mysterious Fossil from the Fossil set. This set expands on it by adding the Claw Fossil and Root Fossil. The Claw Fossil can be made into Anorith, and the Root Fossil can be made into Lileep.

The Mysterious Fossil has the same role as before. That is to evolve it into Omanyte, Kabuto, or Aerodactyl.

Just like the EX Ruby and Sapphire set, this 100-card set continues to reveal 3rd Generation Pokémon.

When collectors open booster packs, they’re hoping to pull one of the seven EX cards (#94 to #100). Pratte says the Wailord EX card (#100) is the most sought-after because of its power in the game.

The EX Gardevoir (#96) is another desirable single.

Raichu EX card (#98) also stands out. It’s the most submitted EX card from this series.

Note that the Espeon (#16) and Umbreon (#24), which are rare but not holographic cards, are also coveted.
